Clipper blade sharpening and tensioning

Poor cutting does not automatically mean more tension is needed. Stop the machine and isolate power as directed before inspecting blades.

Check the basics

Check cleanliness, lubrication, correct fitting and coat suitability. Make one change at a time. If cutting remains poor, ask the manufacturer or a service agent rather than repeatedly tightening.

Model-specific tension

Do not transfer another brand's procedure to your machine. Keep the correct manual with the kit. Overheating, unusual noise or repeated stopping is a reason to investigate.

Sharpening records

Label blade sets, record when they are sent away and identify the returning set. Keep matched parts together where required. Ask whether the blade is suitable for sharpening.

No single sharpening interval fits every coat and machine. Follow the maker's guidance and observed performance. Cleaning and storage matter however recently the blade was sharpened.
