Trimmers for faces, ears and legs
A trimmer may suit small areas, but a smaller tool is not a reason to remove hair unnecessarily. Decide the purpose and check the model and blade's intended use.
Agree what stays
Discuss the face, ears and legs individually. Leave sensory whiskers alone. A body-clip booking need not include every detail area. Consider whether leaving hair is the better choice.
Prepare for handling
Ask an experienced person to help. A horse that accepts body clipping may react differently near its head or legs. Do not force completion. Seek veterinary advice about sore or concerning skin first.
Equipment details
Read fitting and maintenance instructions for the exact trimmer. Do not assume every blade can be sharpened or that a guard changes compatibility. Record blade codes for replacements.
See nervous horses for when to pause, and blade sizes for why millimetres matter more than general labels.
